PostSubject: Interns of the SGC   Mon Apr 11, 2011 12:16 am

Disclaimer: No copyright infringement intended for Stargate SG1, Stargate Atlantis, or Stargate Universe. No money is being made. But fun is being had. All rights remain with original creators.

Ok, so here's the premise: the SGC needs new workers and, as busy as our favorite canon characters are, we know they have little non-elf-shaped helpers running around. So, here is the story of the interns working at the SGC, Pentagon, or on Atlantis.

RPAnon rules and how-to will apply to this RPG. If you don't want your character to be an intern, that's ok, too. There's plenty of room for random team members, secretaries, lab assistants, evil inter-galactic villains. But the premise is going to be based around the butt-monkey work that the interns are left with at the SGC.

Please post a character bio in your first post.

As far as setting goes, I was thinking, we'd set it ... what about after the finale of Atlantis? That way we can have two bases to play between on Earth. But I'm open to other ideas, too. I'm sure this will develop more as we start writing.

PostSubject: O'Neal's Slave   Mon Apr 11, 2011 1:14 am

Character Bio

Name Katie Anderson
Age 21
Hair Color Chestnut Brown
Eye Color Steel gray blue
Height 5’7”
Build Very well toned, not someone you would want to get into a fist fight with.

Clothing: SG issue fatigues, and a black headband.

Bio

Lived in a very devout Catholic household for most of her life. She went to Catholic school and was in the top of her class. At the end of her senior year of high school, though, she rejected everything dealing with her family, and joined the U.S. Air Force. She was did very well during her training, but her temper is causing her superiors to drag their heels on promotion her. She would be at the rank of 1st Lt., but she is still at 2nd Lt, and being taken under Colonel O’Neal’s wing. He was chosen, because her skill made her the best candidate for the position, and he could teach her about controlling her temper.

Day Job O’Neal…*ahem* Colonel O’Neal’s butt monkey… >.>

Behavior Usually, she acts older than her age, but she has trouble controlling her temper, leading her to shoot first and ask questions later when angered. She likes the science officers, which is odd, considering she is Colonel O’Neal’s “intern”. She offers to help science officers and medical officers, but sometimes has a difficult time finding time to help. When extremely stressed, she will go to the canteen, run the chefs out, and begin baking up a storm.

Affiliations: U.S. Air Force, Stargate Program, O’Neal, *smack on the back of the head*, OUCH! Colonel O’Neal! COLONEL O’NEAL! Okay?! I got it!

Powers/Skills Very fit, strong in her arms. A good enough shot to be considered a sharp shooter. Even though she is a member of the Air Force, though, she is afraid of heights and flying, but when the time comes, she has never let that stop her from doing what needs done. Make her angry, and she is likely to either prank you to death, or enter into a berserker rage, depending on the situation.

PostSubject: The Plant Lady   Mon Apr 11, 2011 11:17 pm

OOC:

Character Bio

Name: Annalise Jackson (Called "Lisey" which is pronounce Lease-y)
Age 22
Hair Color: Bright red and nearly waist-length
Eye Color: Gray
Height:5'4"
Build : Lanky, even though she's just a smidgen below "average" in height. Not terribly athletic, although her legs are really strong.

Clothing: SG issue beige pants, solid color shirt, and lab coat (from time to time). In her off time, she's a t-shirt and jeans girl

Bio

Annalise had always liked flowers. Really, plants of all varieties. And when it came to biologcal science, she took it like fish to water. And with her bright red hair, it often led to Poison Ivy jokes. She graduated at the top of not only her high school class, but her college and graduate classes as well. She interned with a large scientist firm, trying to find cures for various diseases through the study of plants. She even created a couple of new hybrid plants at the time. One afternoon, she was approached by Jack O'Neill of the US Air Force, interested in some of her work. A confidentiality agreement later, and she was assigned as the intern to another botantist, Katie Brown.

Day Job: General gopher for Dr. Brown, with a few of her own side-experiments.

Behavior: She's never been good with interacting with humans, hence her love of plants. But, once you get to know her, you find her to have strong, moral convictions and an extremely curious personality.

Affiliations: Stargate Program, Dr. Katie Brown's intern

Powers/Skills: Very well read, and, for reasons she can never explain, all of her strength is in her legs. She's good with math and science... when it comes to measurements, stats, results, and biology, and genetics, that is.

OOC:

Character Bio

Name: Juniper Moody (June/Juni when relatives call)
Age: 24
Hair Color: Short cut, very curly black hair
Eye Color: Amber brown
Height: 5'8"
Build : Athletic and tan from field work
Clothing: Gets away with wearing civies whenever she can, but when active, suits up in the necessary fatigues. Is a fan of leather jackets and faded denim when she's off duty.

Bio: Loved Indiana Jones as a kid. Grew up on a farm with three brothers and no mother, so she knows how to take care of herself, if necessary, but is sort of the awkward "country girl" when traveling. Received a scholarship to Texas A&M. Early on, she went on a student trip to Egypt to get some field world and ended up involved in a car bombing. She's mostly healed up, but has a slight limp when she's been on her feet too long. Was working on her doctorate when she was called in for the internship. Her professor had had dealings with the SGC in the past and put her student's name in the running. Juniper wasn't the most qualified amongst the files, but after a bad day, an exhausted Dr. J had quickly picked a random name when pestered about a new intern for the department. Lucky June.

Day Job: Has become Dr. Jackson's butt money. Since the man is usually in trouble, stuck in the infirmary, or having an epiphany, June gets stuck doing all the grunt work and working with most of the artifacts put on the backburner due to emergencies.

Behavior: Friendly, outgoing, and bitter about never getting to chat with anyone. She has a slight temper, but tries to keep it in check, even when she's constantly ignored by the rest of the department. Tends to make bad first impressions. Foot in mouth syndrome.

Affiliations: Dr. Jackson--pretty much the only person she's really had the chance to speak to.

Powers/Skills: Myth/legends are her main interests. Not a genius like her boss, but she puts in the extra effort to learn the subject matter. Good with defending herself, but hasn't had training. Knows how to fire a weapon, thanks to farmlife.

Katie: “Attention personnel. If you are one of the newly cleared interns, please report to the conference room for first day orientation. Please follow the yellow lines painted on the walls. They will direct you. … All other staff, if you see someone you don’t recognize, and they are in your way, gawking, and generally looking lost, please direct them to the conference room, they are a lost intern. That is all. “ *Whap!*

O’Neill: “That is not how you do announcements! It’s disrespectful to the geek squad!”

Katie: “Sir, you do realize that the microphone is still on?”

O’Neill: “…”

PostSubject: Re: Interns of the SGC   Thu Apr 14, 2011 1:40 am

Annalise: *pursing lips and gripping her notes and folders tight* "I have no idea where I'm at."

*Annalise made her way slowly up the gray halls of the SGC, blinking her gray eyes as innocently as possible. If all went well, someone would take the announcement's advice and advise her as to where the orientation was.*

Annalise: *after another dead end* "Oh dear."

*She could feel the heat rising to her face. She was so hopeless with directions, and Dr. Brown had directed her at least three times before she had left the safety of the botany lab. Turning away from the Air Force guards that were now eyeing her like a possible security breach, she whirled, coming face-to-face with the all-too recognizable Sam Carter.*

Annalise: "Colonel Carter! Um... I..."

Sam: *smiling* "Katie mentioned you. Go down the next hall and up the stairs. The orientation is the room you'll walk right into off the stairs."

Annalise: *now fully blushing* "Thank you, ma'am."

OOC: Was Sam still a colonel after SGA? If not, let me know and I shall correct.

PostSubject: Mama Mia, Here We Go Again...   Thu Apr 14, 2011 12:40 pm

*The elevator door slid open, allowing her voice to escape once more.*

June: "Seriously, though, I have no idea why my papers were filed wrong--Dr. Peterson, she's from my school, was supposed to take care of that for me. . . And Dr. Jackson sent a memo saying he'd be here for my arrival and..."

*The airman shot her a glance before tilting his head again to indicate she exit the elevator.*

June: "Oh!" *She honestly wasn't sure why she was feeling so uptight. Sure, she'd ran into a little trouble actually getting on the base, and the escort who was supposed to meet her at the airport never arrived and it was her first day in a top secret underground... Well... June was actually starting to understand where her nervousness was coming from. She took a breath and stepped out past the airman.* "Nice elevator" *she commented, after it had shut behind her.*

*The airman raised a brow.*

June: "Would be better with nice music of course." *When he didn't reply, she scrambled to take back the sentiment.* "Granted it could also be worse with music-- you know, if they picked some pop ballad or, like, ABBA or something."

*The airman grunted.*

Airman Sooner: "My baby sister just got a part in Mamma Mia."

June: ::So much for making friends. Damn it, Juni, quit trying so hard.::

*With a "Click!" a slightly bored female voice from above sounded out....* "Attention personnel. " *Suddenly a male voice butted in....* “That is not how you do announcements! It’s disrespectful to the geek squad!”

*The announcement quickly ended, leaving June staring into space and Airman Sooner chuckling to himself. As soon as the airman's eyes found June's again, though, he sobered up, annoyed once more.*

June: "Yellow lines. Got it. Thanks for your...." *But the man was already walking away. June shook her head, muttering...* "Frickin' foot in mouth syndrome...Now, where I was I going? Yellow lines, yeah..."

*Finding the conference room wasn't as hard as one might expect, and she could see a few others, interns, she assumed, just now making it to the doorway... She felt a little of her confidence building once more. This was it. What she'd be waiting for.... She really couldn't wait to meet them, the folks she'd already been briefed about after signing one bundled of nondisclosure forms. Most of all, though, she couldn't wait to meet Dr. Jackson, her new boss. She pushed down the bubble of excitement growing in her chest and stepped forward to join her peers.*

OOC:

I actually love ABBA, and June probably would if she'd given it a chance--but something tells me that growing up with rough and tumble brothers as company leaves you with a very limited music library, Very Happy

PostSubject: What now?   Thu Apr 14, 2011 1:42 pm

*Kaite walked down the hallway, her head throbbing. After the announcement, O'Neill had berated her about proper annoucement procedures, and smacked her on the back of the head again for calling him O'Neill, instead of the correct title of "Brigadier General" O'Neill. She didn't know why he insisted upon the title, he didn't like it. Now she was having to go to this stupid intern orientation. She had been living in Chenyenne Mountain for about two weeks now, one week acclamating, and one week beginning her actual gopher work for O'Neill. And now he was making her go to this.*

Katie: "I could tell everyone the basics of living here, and we'd be out of here in five minutes. I guess the squint squad though needs a good old fashioned safety debriefing. Especially if any of them get into as much trouble as Dr. Jackson."

*As she muttered to herself, Katie began to notice that there were four main colors in the hallway: black, gray, white, and yellow. And that there were actaully, several yellow lines, all leading different ways.*

Katie: "... Well crap. The first thing I'm doing after leaving this thing, is painting the line leading to the orientation room an obnoxious neon pink. No one would miss it then." *Katie shook her head, and entered the conference room, which was all ready filling with a small group of people.*

Katie: *muttering* "Mabey if I keep my mouth shut, people won't realize that I was the one who did the announcement..." *She sat down in a chair near the front of the room, trying to seperate herself from the rest of the group. She wished that she could just melt into the group of mostly white jacketed science department interns, and knew that her black t-shirt with khaki cargo pants and black army boots fit in just as well as a pork chop at a kosher wedding.*

Katie: *muttering again* "O'Neill, hurry up, get your butt in gear, and get me out of here."

Build: In good shape but not overly muscular.

Clothing: Black cargo pants, sturdy black boots, Black t-shirt, and standard issue Atlantis Project jacket.

A little bit of a know it all but not in an arrogant way he just has so much information floating around in his head its hard to stop himself from talking some times. Also as a scientist he can be brutally honest with people witch doesn't always turn out so well. OOC: Great bio, sig! Actually it inspired an idea... since the last we physically saw Atlantis it was on Earth, do we want to make up a problem so it can't get back to pegasus immediately so it'll be easier to go between for a while?

((OOC Sam was promoted to Brigadier General and put in charge of the SGC two years after the defeat of the Ori. I’m assuming this RP takes place before that.))

Character Bio

Name Georgette Burns (aka George)
Age 23
Hair deep brown, almost black
Eye chocolate brown
Height 5’8”
Build: coppery skin, tall, lean, athletic,

Clothing: SG issue fatigues, usually leaves the jacket open or off, revealing a gray t-shirt beneath. Long sleeves are usually rolled up around the elbow when possible.

Bio

The only daughter of Brigadier General Henry Burns, George essentially grew up in military school and various bases around the world. She had no clue as to the warabouts of her mother, the woman having disappeared when she was six, and her relationship with her father (military rank aside) is very close. She graduated top of her class and the air force volunteered to pay for her schooling provided she return to the program upon completion. George agreed and gained a degree in Sociology, again graduating at the top of her class. The airforce assigned her to assist Dr Jerald Simon a civilian sociologist, and George jumped at the chance to work at the SGC, (not that she knew what it was before arriving) Dr. Simon doesn’t want the help and is blatantly obvious about it. As a result Colonel Carter has taken George for her own assistant on a periodic basis. (not that their felids of study are anything close to similar, but paperwork is paperwork.)
George’s rank is currently Sergeant/Sr. Airman

Day Job: assistant to sociologist Dr. Jerald Simon (OC and up for use) Appropriated on several occasions by Colonel Carter.

Behavior: Being a military brat has definitely taken it’s toll on her. George love rules and organization, she likes knowing what she can and can’t do as well as what she can but probably shouldn’t do. The result can make her seem rather stand offish, but break through the tough exterior and you’ll find a heart of gold. She doesn’t have a temper, when she is angry she tends to get all stony faced and leave the room. If she can’t leave, well good luck getting her to talk for a while. living with people who expect to be obeyed the first time doesn’t leave much room for learning to argue so if her opinion is shot down the first time she’ll was awhile before trying again. .She likes action and has a hard time sitting still

Affiliations: U.S. Air Force, Stargate Program, Colonel Carter.

Powers/Skills: speaks several languages Including: Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Turkish, German, Slovak, Dari and Pashto (last two spoken in Afghanistan) and has an uncanny ability to learn and understand the ins and outs of foreign cultures in a matter of hours. She’s a good shot, has a black belt in taekwondo and is proficient in aikido and jujitsu as well. George does have a pilot’s license. Basic knowledge of field medicine, can play the guitar.

PostSubject: June attempts life as a social butterfly and fails....   Thu Apr 21, 2011 12:26 am

*June immediately regretted her Scott Bakula joke. She'd been unable to stop it from leaving her mouth as soon as she heard one of the lab coat donning newbies rattle on about "leaps in quantum physics." The piercing glare they'd sent her way left her stumbling past a row of chairs to get away from the scientists. June glanced down at her clothes-- the ones she'd just arrived to the base in less than an hour ago-- leather jacket, worn out jeans, and a striped green tee. Traveling clothes. Wearing a neon sign that read "New Moron" would probably have been less conspicuous.*

June: *muttering* "If 'someone' had just picked me up on time..." *Deciding not to let the cool reception steal all of her thunder, she moved as far away from the larger group as possible and noticed a woman in standards sitting on the far side at the front of the room. June watched as another, rather meek looking young woman who looked a few years her junior cautiously took a seat two places down from the other wall flower. June straightened slightly, plastering a friendly smile on her face, and moved to the front of the room to sit between the two.*

June: *trying not to place her complete focus on either of them* "So . . . kinda neat being this far underground."

*When silence met her, she turned to the first woman, taking her in. Brown hair, steely blue eyes and a raised brow, but it was her demeanor alone that practically screamed Air Force.* :: Not a scientist then... And I get the distinct impression that she's trying her damnedest to not open her mouth. That's weird. Looks like it might be killing her a little.::

*June nodded to herself and turned to the other woman, who had neatly folded her hands in her lap, her quiet smile polite but not inviting. When she noticed June staring, she self-consciously lifted a hand, tugging at her own long red hair.*

June: ::OK, so apparently everyone else received the 'No Talking' memo...:: "So, I'm new here... obviously. I'm going to be working in Dr. Jackson's department. My name's Juniper Moody."

*The red head perked up suddenly, leaning forward.* "Juniper like the tree?"

*June wasn't sure why that had sparked the other woman's interest, but she was happy to know that talking about something other than quantium theory was actually allowed. She grinned brightly.*

PostSubject: Well, It's One Way to Get Her to Talk   Thu Apr 21, 2011 4:28 pm

*Annalise felt downright silly that such a thing would naturally call her attention, bu she could not fight it. Juniper seemed friendly enough, but Annalise still could not stop the slight shaking of her hand she offered it up for a neighborly shake. Juniper was nice enough not to mention it, but she did look a little concerned. Annalise immediately retracted her hand, clasping it in her lap with the other one.*

Annalise: "I'm, um, Annalise Jackson."

*This caused a perk in attention from Juniper.*

Juniper: "Any relation to Dr. Daniel Jackson?"

Annalise: *allowing a small smile* "You're the fifth person to ask me that. No, sorry. Just a coincidence."

*Juniper nodded, and Annalise allowed her eyes to trail to the young Air Force woman on Juniper's other side. She knew well what it was like to have someone ignore her, whether it be on purpose or on accident. Trying her best not to make her smile as nervous as she felt, she leaned around Juniper, coughing politely to gain her attention. When the woman only allowed her eyes to trail towards her, Annalise summoned courage.*

Annalise: "Hello. I'm Annalise."

*The woman offered barely a hint of a smile and turned her eyes straightford. Juniper bit down a smile.*

Juniper: "Call me June."

Annalise: *trying not to feel too bashed by the woman on Juniper's other side* "Lisey."

PostSubject: Re: Interns of the SGC   Thu Apr 21, 2011 9:48 pm

*Laps, she was running laps.*

George: *counting as she round the corner outside Dr. Simon’s office* “thirteen”

*the deep brown hair that reached maybe three inches past her collar bone was pulled up in a ponytail and her uniform jacket was open the sleeves rolled up past her elbows she slowed and just then an announcement came over the broadcast system.*

Announcement: “Attention personnel. “

George: “Dr. Simon what . . .”

Dr. Simon: “just keep running” *the infuriating man called* “if your superiors want you there some one will tell you.”

*George grit her teeth and ran on. Three days of this. She had arrived here knowing nothing, only that the higher-ups were reviewing her Active duty AECP results (Airman Education and Commissioning Program) her ROTC coarse grades, her files and records, for all she knew her flight logs, anything and everything they would need to determine if she was worthy of a commission and rank of 2nd lieutenant. They sent her here, said her skills and abilities would flourish under this command and for three days she’d been doing nothing but grunt work. Oh her military duties were exactly what she had expected, but her time with Dr. Simon, the time she was supposed to be helping him, that was spent carting papers carrying memos across base and running laps. Did she complain, no, they had put Simon in charge of her and she would abide by that decision, but she was getting really tired of laps.*

*A figure exited a doorway just in front of her and George bit back a yelp spun on the ball of her foot around the figure thankfully avoiding a collision, and found herself face to face with Colonel Carter.*

George: “Ma’am” *jumping to salute* “I’m sorry Ma’am . . .”

Colonel Carter: “You’re Dr. Simon’s assistant? Why aren’t you at orientation?”

George: “George Burns Ma’am, Dr. Simon said to run laps, I’m sorry I should’ve been paying more attention to the hallways . . .”

Colonel Carter: “He has you running laps . . . Well get to orientation, If it helps I’ll make that and order.”

George: “Ma’am yes Ma’am.” * and she was off one again this time headed straight for the conference room. Laps were good for one thing, by now she knew the basic layout and location of all the ‘important’ rooms like the back of her hand*

*Upon arriving she moved quickly to the front of the room chose a chair at the end of the front row near several other women, spun it around and sat straddling the chair with her wrists crossed on the back and her chin resting on them.*

George: *looking sideways at the two friendly looking interns* “Hello Ladies, Hope you don’t mind if I join you. Name’s George.” *it was then that she noticed the Lieutenant a seat beyond them* “Ah, Lieutenant! Pardon the rude behavior!”

*and with that George stood back up, turned the chair to face the front of the room again, and resumed her seat this time sitting properly, though her long legs were stretched out in front of her and crossed at the ankles.*

PostSubject: Lost in the rings...   Sat Apr 23, 2011 8:48 pm

*shink, shink, shink*

*Rick squinted as the rings retracted into the ceiling leaving him to scan his surroundings. Looking around he finally saw what he had been looking for the familiar gray walls of the new setup transportation room at Stargate Command. Just as he finished scanning the small room the door opened and in walked Colonel Samantha Carter.*

Rick: “Colonel Carter it’s good to see you again!

Sam: “It’s good to see you again to Dr. Walker I’m glad you made it here safely. What happened exactly happened you were scheduled to arrive about 7 hours ago.”

Rick: “I was beginning to think I might never get here myself. Apparently Dr. McKay has begun to think of me as his personal guinea pig and as such decided that I would be the first test of the new rings we recently installed on Atlantis to speed up travel times to various places and cut back on the power needed for the Asgard beaming tech or having to use the puddle jumpers all the time. Anyways he apparently didn’t have the new rings in Atlantis locked in to the ones here at the SGC so when I was sent through the rings they auto locked on the nearest set of rings they could find which just so happened to be in an underground chamber in one of the Egyptian pyramids. Needless to say I wasn’t too happy to find myself in some musky dank tomb as opposed to the SGC. It took me a while considering the only light I had was one of the ancient pocket tablets but I finally managed to reprogram the rings down there to get me here and well that’s about it really. Sorry I’m running late.”

Sam: “Its fine that you’re late I’m just glad you’re okay. McKay should know better by now, you need to be careful sometimes he gets so wrapped up in his own big ideas and experiments that he can forget the little details. You Dr. Walker need to keep watch on the details. Anyways the orientation meeting you came here for is taking place just up stairs in the conference room and if you hurry you can probably get there just before it starts.”

Rick: “Thank you Colonel, I appreciate the advice. I’ll get to the meeting thanks again for checking in.”

*Turning on his heels Rick ran out the door and down to the stair case at the end of the hall.*

15 minutes and 15 flights of stairs later…

*Gasp* *huff* *Weez*

Rick: ::Okay mental note never take directions form Sam ever again. Just upstairs she says, be there in time she says, yeah right! That woman must be insane. Although, given the stunt McKay pulled and now this from Colonel Carter… I swear if this is all just some twisted joke they came up with to haze me my revenge will be swift and merciless.::

*Finally regaining his composure as well as the ability to breathe Rick entered the conference room. Looking around he spotted several different clicks in the room the military, the medical, the science department, and the social science department. He started to head over to the science group but then caught sight of another group sitting at the table this one caught his attention because it was the only mixed group in the room. Four women sat together the two civilians talking back and forth with one another with an occasional interjection from a military woman with Dark brown hair and rolled sleeves and one other military woman keeping herself at a distance. The last woman with the Chestnut hair was ye far the most interesting to Rick if only due to the look on her face. She looked straight ahead jaw locked in concentration; she looked as though she was putting everything she had into keeping her mouth shut.*

Rick: ::Hum these four look like nice enough girls or at least a whole heck of a lot more interesting than the rest of this lot, plus I might be able to have some fun with the one who wants to stay quiet so bad.::

*Walking over to where the four are sitting across the room Rick clears his throat to get their attention.*

Rick: “Hello I was wondering if I might have a seat and join you ladies as you in all honesty look to be far more interesting than those would be science drones over there. What do you say?”

OOC: Any of you four ladies are welcome to pick up with this and go with how you want to respond or you can just leave it and I’ll come up with something just figured I’d leave it open. Oh and Patricia as far as Atlantis still being on earth I figure Home World Command decided to keep it stationed on earth for the time being due to the threat from the Lucian Alliance. It would prove highly effective in defending earth from attacks from space now that it has the full zpm power backing it.

PostSubject: Of lockjaw and other things   Mon Apr 25, 2011 12:11 am

*As the two women slowly approached her “hiding place, Katie couldn’t help but inwardly cringe. *

Katie: ::This isn’t going to end well… I just feel it in my bones…::

*Both of them sat to her right, thankfully not sitting one on each side. She was trying to keep a low profile, and getting, almost literally caught in the middle of a conversation was certainly the fastest way to “blow” her voice cover. Oh, she knew that eventually she would be found out, but she just didn’t want it to be in the middle of the group of people she had accidentally insulted. Revealing that flub, she wanted to do one person at a time, and only then if they realized if it was her that had done it.

June: *trying not to place her complete focus on either of them* "So . . . kinda neat being this far underground."

Katie: ::Crapity! Crapity! Crap! Crap! Crap! Conversation started. How can I go about this without seeming like an absolute ass?:: *Katie raised and eyebrow, looked at the woman, and grinned very slightly.* ::Yeah… I kinda feel like a dwarf, only high tech, and not trying to compensate for being short.:: *Before she could soften her face anymore, the woman nodded, and turned away to look at the woman on her other side. * ::Well… That could have gone better.::

June: "So, I'm new here... obviously. I'm going to be working in Dr. Jackson's department. My name's Juniper Moody."

Katie: ::Great… Dr. Jackson’s department. This could be trouble… Interesting, but trouble. Maybe she’ll help keep him out of trouble. If so, I’ll nominate her for a Peace Prize, or something. Wait. Did she say Moody? Like Professor Moody?:: *Katie couldn’t help it, her ears perked. This was one of the few ways she was extreamly nerdy. She was a Pot-head. She had even tried to be on a tv show once called, “Beat the Geeks” as the Harry Potter Geek.*

Annalise: “Juniper like the tree?"

*Katie watched out of the corner of her eye. The two scientists were bonding well.*

Annalise: "I'm, um, Annalise Jackson."

*Katie did a quick mental face palm. * ::Not good! Another Jackson! I can just see the body count rising now. I’m going to the kitchens after here… I can just see it now.:: *She was so deep in thought, that Katie had to be brought back from her reverie. *

Annalise: *Cough*

*Katie’s eyes quickly cut to the young red-headed woman. *

Annalise: "Hello. I'm Annalise."

*Katie offered her a hint of a smile, too, then turned her eyes back to the front of the room, all ready planning. * ::Play nice. Get to know them, and maybe when they decide to do something stupid, you’ll be able to talk them out of it.::

Juniper: "Call me June."

Annalise: "Lisey."

*Suddenly, another young woman came up to their little group. She spun around a chair, and plopped down, straddling it, resting her chin on her wrists, and being at complete ease. *

George: *looking sideways at the two friendly looking interns* “Hello Ladies, Hope you don’t mind if I join you. Name’s George.”

Katie: ::George… George… George! I remember now! She’s-::

George: *it was then that she noticed the Lieutenant a seat beyond them* “Ah, Lieutenant! Pardon the rude behavior!” *and with that George stood back up, turned the chair to face the front of the room again, and resumed her seat this time sitting properly. *

*Katie was about to break her vow of silence, tell George at ease, and ask her to forgiver her for being to casual. If anyone should be sitting properly, it should be her. After all, she was Brigadier General Burn’s daughter! Before she got the chance to, though, another person came up, a young man this time, clearing his throat. *

Rick: *smirking slightly* “Hello I was wondering if I might have a seat and join you ladies as you in all honesty look to be far more interesting than those would be science drones over there. What do you say?”

*Katie looked the man up and down. He looked good in his black cargo pants and black t-shirt. His blond hair and emerald green eyes gave him a mature, but playful look, but there was just something about him that bothered her…*

Katie: ::I know what it is now! He reminds me of some of the guys from Saint Cecelia’s! He knows that he’s good looking, and is… what’s the word? Haughty! That’s it.::

*Before anything else could be said, O’Neill strode into the room, commanding the attention of everyone instantly.*

O’Neill: “All right, everyone. Have a seat. I know that you have things you would rather be doing, but this is an important part of your time with the SG program. Things happen here, and they aren’t the normal type of stuff, so you need to be prepared. We do lose people in this program, and we have lost interns before. We try to save everyone that we can, but this program is bigger than any and all of us. So, these are the things you need to know in order to increase your chance of survival.” *O’Neill finished his last sentence with a smirk, before heading off into a long-ish safety debriefing that left no room for idol chatter. *

OOC- I figured that we could just skip the safety lecture, and just go to the end when we are all leaving. If we have something in particular that we want to bring up, we can bring up specific rules, and have the characters discuss them.

PostSubject: Re: Interns of the SGC   Tue Apr 26, 2011 12:53 am

Some Time Later...

O'Neil: "Now that I've covered he protocal here on base, I'll cover the protocal for traveling between Atlantis and the SGC."

*Annalise had always been a patient, if not excellent, listener. But even this was beginning to grate on her nerves. She could not help but peek at her left risk, noting that she had already been seated in this room with her fellow interns for nearly an hour and a half. Sighing, she cast her eyes about the small group that had formed. The woman who seemed so intent on not talking was holding true to, her eyes glued intently on General O'Neil. The man who had joined them was now leaning way back in his chair, and making no effort to hide any yawn that arose. June's eyes kept darting between the ever-speakin general to the door, as if waiting for someone--or something--to come bursting in. The woman named George--which Annalise could not help but find odd--was grinning brightly, as if this was the best place to be in the whole world. Annalise sighed and shifted, noting that her rear was becoming uncomfortably numb. A second later, she flet a nudge form George. Smiling, she pointed to an officer standing way off to the left of O'Neil.*

George: *whispering as softly as possible* "Even he can't keep his eyes open, and he's standing!"

*Annalise grinned at the young airman whose eyes kept shutting, only to snap open a moment later. She light bit at her bottom lip to stifle the giggle that was growing within her. George was doing something quite similar. Even Rick, the woman who refused to speak, and June had noticed him, all doing varying degrees of giggling. A few more moments of this, and suddenly O'Neil stopped speaking. Without warning, he slammed his hand down upon the room's conference table. Everyone jumped three feet into the air... the sleepy airman jumped six.*

O'Neil: *with a sly grin* "Just making sure I haven't lost you yet."

*The unspeaking woman shook her head with a grin, while June joined Annalise in becoming deadly serious in their listening. The protocal speeches continued on and on until, finally, O'Neil paused.*

O'Neil: *clearing his throat* "Some of you interns have been here longer than others, due to varying reasons. This may sound a bit corny, but it always helps to know someone who has had time to learn the base. Those of you who had have been here for a little while now, do us a favor and let's have a show of hands."

*Annalise's nerves instantly set her to shaking. She'd been here at least three weeks now... and she still had no idea where anything was at! But, as steadily as she could, her hand joined those of the ohers who had been stationed at the SGC for a while.*

O'Neil: *his grin now devious* "I say, form a buddy system with these guys who've been here.*

*Annalise sucked in a deep, deep breath. Now, not only was she going to have to worry about getting herself lost, apparently she was going to have to worry about several other people as well as an unwillingly appointed "buddy."

Botonists were just not cut out for this.*

OOC: I left it vague on who all raised their hands, so feel free if anyone wants to do something further with this or not.

*Katie slowly raised her hand, doing so, because she knew O'Neill would call on her specifically as an example soon, fi she didn't.*

Katie: ::I WILL prank him for this later.::

*June felt herself shrinking at the number of raised hands around her... apparently, a good number of the newbies had arrived well in time to get to know the base. The thought of a buddy raised her spirits, though--quickly glancing at Lisey aka "that girl who likes my name", she shot her a bright smile.*

June: "Buddy?"

Lisey: *swallowing, she donned a nervous grin* "I'm not very good at getting around the base, but..."

June: *at a whisper, she nudged the woman* "I'm sure we'll figure it out..." *Her eyes shot to the front when she realized that she was being stared at. O'Neill was watching the front row with amused smirk, shooting the girl June had code named "she-who-is-mute" a glance before looking the room over. His eyes landed on June and Lisey again."

O'Neill: "Who are you under?"

June: *straightening* "Dr. Jackson--- by the way, will he be..."

O'Neill: *cutting her off* "Danny boy actually picked a new one?" *he snorted* "Darts. Figures." *He frowned.* "Actually, you know what, with that department's luck in interns, you could probably use more than one buddy...." *He glanced down the line.* "You know, I know just the right fit..."

OOC: Go where you will with that, lol.

PostSubject: Don't...You... Dare...!   Tue Apr 26, 2011 1:29 am

Katie: *setting her jaw even more* ::Don't you dare, O'Neill, or so help me. You give me enough headaches as it is.:: *Katie entered into a small glaring contest with her commanding officer, mentally willing him to not say her name. She knew if he ordered it, she would be a "buddy", but was he trying to get her killed, or did he just have a death wish? In all honesty, she wanted to make friends on base, but she didn't like being forced into social situations in this manner.*

PostSubject: Hands Really?   Tue Apr 26, 2011 9:14 pm

O'Neil: *clearing his throat* "Some of you interns have been here longer than others, due to varying reasons. This may sound a bit corny, but it always helps to know someone who has had time to learn the base. Those of you who had have been here for a little while now, do us a favor and let's have a show of hands."

*Rick looked around the room as various people raised their hands into the air; he however kept his hands folded neatly across his chest. He knew the layout of this place like the back of his hand since he had memorized its every detail in the last few weeks and thanks to his eidetic memory would never be able to forget them. He was not however going to volunteer this information because he knew the minute he did he would never get a moments peace from all the lost little interns and his time was much too valuable to be wasted as someone’s map. O’Neil would probably let him have it later but it was worth it to keep his time to himself.*

O'Neil: *his grin now devious* "I say, form a buddy system with these guys who've been here."

*Rick Smirked, saw that one coming. Good thing I kept my hand down otherwise I probably would have ended up tied to one of those annoying science drones.

O’Neil: “Dr. Walker.”

Rick: *Rick jerked forward he had been so deep in his own thoughts he hadn’t noticed when O’Neil stopped talking and started staring right at him until he had finally bark out his name.* “Sir.”

O’Neil: “As I was saying I believe any intern working for Dr. Jackson is going to need a little extra help if they’re going stay out of trouble. So I have an idea, since from what I heard of the conversation they were having during mine Miss Moody and Miss Jackson seem to want to buddy up I am going to allow that with a few additions. Since you choose not to raise your hand earlier even though we both know you’ve been here going on 3 months now Dr. Walker and since you are one of the few representatives of the Atlantis team in this room right now I’m making you their buddy on Atlantis. Any time there on the Atlantis base they are your responsibility I’m making it your job to be their guide and keep them out of trouble and I’m sure with all the ancient gizmos Daniels always wanting to play with over there will be plenty to keep you busy. Yes, this sounds like a great idea if I do say so myself and don’t you agree Dr. Walker?”

*Rick looked at the two women sharing an expression of mild shock. Well as much as he might hate it he couldn’t really tell O’Neil no at least not without ending up in the brig. Oh well it could be worse at least they seemed nice enough, he just hoped for his sake they could stay out of trouble.*

Rick: “Yes sir should be…Interesting.”

O’Neil: “Now as for when these two are on base I believe I know the perfect person for the job don’t you agree Lt. Anderson?”

OOC: What do you guys think if you want I can change things around however you think it should go? Feel free to change it in your post I’ll edit to make it fit if you don’t like it. Oh and I thought if I was buddy on Atlantis and O’Neil make Anderson Buddy for the SGC then he might make George their off world buddy since she military could keep them safe and watch their backs and this would give us a way to get everyone evolved in a kind group setting from time to time but that one’s completely up to you Avian. Hope you guys like tried to leave it open let me know what you think.

((OOC off world buddy is fine by me.))

*George patiently sat and listened through the entire thing, soaking it all in. this place was fascinating a marvel that by all outside logic shouldn’t exist. But she had once heard her father say that General O’Neil was a man of few words and now she knew why. Even with all her training her attention started to wander. She managed to make herself face forwards, but then she noticed something that only caused her to grin. The airman behind and off to the left of the general was falling asleep. She couldn’t help but point it out, but then the general slammed his hand down and her grin was gone as her focus shifted once again to where it should be. A little while later he was calling for those who knew their way around the base to raise their hands, George gingerly raised hers. True she hadn’t been there long, but during her brief time on base she had spent so much time in the halls that she couldn’t help but learn the layout.*

*General O’Neil kept talking, moving down the line, Allowing June and Annalise to partner up on the condition that they have buddies both on base and Atlantis*

O’Neil: “Now as for when these two are on base I believe I know the perfect person for the job don’t you agree Lt. Anderson?”

*and without waiting for an answer he rounded on George,*

O’Neil: “Airman Burns, don’t think I’ve forgotten about you!” *George simply looked at him, waiting.* “You’ve been here what, 72 hours?”

George: “That is correct, Sir.”

O’Neil: “then why the hell did you raise your . . .” * he paused a moment thinking* “ . . .Laps, you’ve been running laps!”

George: “Sir?”

O’Neil: “And I’ll bet you have your old man’s sense of direction too. Well make’s my job that much easier, You’ll be in charge of these two ‘scientists’ in the event they need to go off world. They’ll need somebody with combat experience with them if they want their hides intact, and after all we didn’t assign you to Dr. Simon in spite of all his arguments just so you could run around delivering memos.”

*George sat there stunned, it all made so much sense now. Dr. Simon had already told her several times he wouldn’t step through the gate himself if his life depended on it. The man got all his research from the videos the SG teams brought back. If they could send someone in his place, someone who knew what to look for . . .*

O’Neil: “Dr. Walker.”

Rick: *Rick jerked forward.* “Sir.”

Yes, this sounds like a great idea if I do say so myself and don’t you agree Dr. Walker?”

Rick: “Yes sir should be…Interesting.”

Katie: *snickering under her breath* ::That’s what you get for lying to O’Neil.::

O’Neil: “Now as for when these two are on base I believe I know the perfect person for the job don’t you agree Lt. Anderson?” *and without waiting for an answer he rounded on George* “Airman Burns, don’t think I’ve forgotten about you!”

Katie: *Katie’s jaw dropped slightly as she tuned out the rest of O’Neil’s speech. She knew that there was a chance that O’Neil would make her their buddy, but his quick dismissal of her answer aggravated her. The next thing she knew, everyone was getting up and beginning to leave the room. Katie got up and jogged to catch up to Moody and Jackson. If she was going to be their “base buddy,” she might as well begin now, and try to keep them out of trouble… at least until it was time for her to go for her training.*
